Pokemon GOtrainers may not be heading out for Community Day or Safari Zones this month as they had originally planned, but that doesn’t mean trainers won’t be keeping busy. Niantic has made somegreat temporary changes toPokemon GOto make it easier to stay engaged in the game while practicing good social distancing and obeying stay-at-home orders; including a number of events that can be completed without leaving the house.
In addition to the Tricky Pokemon Event and the upcoming Spring Event,Pokemon GOtrainers are also about to have a normal month’s worth of spotlight hours. Although there was some concern that these events may be cancelled this month, Niantic is making some minor changes to spawns androlling out the Spotlight Hours for April.

This weekly Spotlight Hour will put a special focus on one Pokemon and offer a limited time bonus, as well. Think of it like a very mini Community Day that usually features Pokemon who aren’t quite as popular as the real stars of the month. With the first April Spotlight just days away, players can now see all the details about the upcoming events…
April 7 - Purrloin - 2x Catch XP
April 14 - Magnemite - 2x Catch Candy
April 21 - Wobbuffet - 2x Transfer Candy
April 28 - Pidgey- 2x Evolution XP
Although some Spotlight features, like Pidgey, are obviously not very exciting, that doesn’t make the whole month a wash. Magnemite is particularly exciting and is both a fan-favorite Pokemon and one that has someimpact on the PvP metagame. Regardless of the featured creatures, the Catch Candy and Transfer Candy bonuses should also be plenty of motivation to take part if the events. The XP bonuses are great as well for players who are still grinding through the game’s ridiculous XP caps, but many players have already hit max level a long time ago.
For now, players may want to keep hunting downthe best Unova Pokemon in the gameif improving their Battle Raid rosters is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for morePokemon GOstrategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
