Since March,Pokemon GOhas made some incredibly strides towards making the mobile AR experience more playable for players who are unable to travel as often or socialize with other trainers. Although some features were clearly put in place just to keep the game’s community engaged during the age of social distancing and lockdown orders, the changes have managed to draw in a lot of additional fansand Niantic seems to be looking for ways to incorporate many of these changes in the longrun without compromising the vision and goals of the game.

Features likeRemote Raid Passesare definitely here to stay and will make a huge difference for many players who lack a bit of freedom in when and where they are able to Raid. Although the weekly free gifts that were around for the first few months of quarantine have been retired, it seems like Niantic is now ready to roll out some similar features that are a little less generous, but offer additional motivation to log in toPokemon GOon a daily basis.

As teased and tested in select regions over the last month,Pokemon GOtrainers can now begin receiving one unique guaranteed encounter per day and they can also findone modest free gift box in the game’s store every single day. Although the contents of the gift box aren’t really much better than spinning a Pokestop, this is still a great way to get players logging in every day, even if they don’t plan to visit any POIs.

Daily Unique Encounter

The daily free encounter is triggered by special incense that Professor Willow shows up and offers. The unique spawn is easy to miss, especially if trainers are in an area with lots of other spawns, but just keep an eye out for one spawn that has a solid white ring around its base, rather than the usual one that appears with a regular spawn.

Daily Free Box

The Daily Free Box can be claimed from the top of the Shop within the app. At this point, we don’t know exact details about how the items will vary from day to day, but so far it seems like they’ll be pretty simple. Today we received some basic Potion and a few Pokeballs. This is a nice way to lure users over to all of the game’s microtransactions and it will be interesting to see ifPoGOsees an increase in purchases now that users are checking in on this section on a daily basis.

As trainers continue working through all of these amazing events, they may want to keep hunting downthe best Unova Pokemon in the gameif improving their Battle Raid rosters and completing their Pokedex is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for morePokemon GOstrategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
