Technical Machines (TMs) are items that can teach Pokemon moves that they normally can’t upon leveling up. They have been a part of thePokemonfranchise since the beginning, so it’s only natural they’d make a return inPokemon Scarlet & Violet. After being used once, TMs will break and disappear.

Scarlet/Violetsomewhat averts the TM-breaking mechanic by allowing trainers to craft TMs by using League Points (LP) and Pokemon Materials/Resources. This allows trainers to potentially have multiple copies of one TM. Before part 1 (Teal Mask) of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero,Scarlet/Violet’s expansion pass, there were 171 TMs that could be found, unlocked, and crafted. The Teal Mask expands this number to 201, and to craft them, players are going to need to catch or battle the Pokemon in Kitakami.

Where to Buy & Craft TMs in Scarlet/Violet

TMs can’t be bought with money inScarlet/Violet. Instead, they’re purchased with League Points (LP) from theTM Machineat the PokeCenters. There are a variety of ways to farm League Points such as:

Despite unlocking the TM Machine shortly after meeting Koraidon/Miraidon, trainers won’t be able to craft many TMs. They’ll need to farm specific Pokemon materials depending on the TM they want, andthey need to have enough LP. Some TMs need to be unlocked in the “Starfall Street” and “Victory Road” main quest.

Those that purchased the DLC can visit Kitakami once they’ve started the Treasure Hunt. Of the 30 new TMs inScarlet/Violet, almost all of them require materials from Pokemon that are exclusive to Kitakami (such as Poochyena). Since materials are collected by defeating or catching a Pokemon, trainers that want to use TM172-TM201 will need the expansion pass.

A quick way to farm materials is to use the Auto-Battle function (R-button). The leading Pokemon in the party can knock out multiple opponents in one sitting if they’re a higher level and/or have the Type advantage.

All New TMs & How to Craft Them in The Teal Mask

Crafting a TM is easy: Select “I want a TM made” at the TM Machine. If players have enough materials and LP, a greenCraftablemessage will be displayed at the bottom of the TM picture. Players can also"mark"a TM by tapping the(+) button. Once trainers have enough materials, a pop-up menu saying “You’ve got everything you need to make a TM in your watch list!” will appear on the right side of the screen. To remove a TM from the “mark” list, hover over the TM in the TM Machine, and press(+) buttonto toggle it off.
