One of the first MOBAs to come to life wasDefense of the Ancients(a player-made mod forWarcraft 3). But over the years, MOBAs have undergone significant changes, fromextensive world-buildingto spectacular gameplay mechanics. Furthermore, MOBA game developers have experimented with various gameplay elements to create unique games.
As a result, games likeSmiteandPaladins: Champions of the Realmfeature third-person gameplay, giving a breath of fresh air to the MOBA genre.Predecessoris another up-and-coming MOBA that features third-person gameplay as well as FPS elements. So, players that want to jump into this MOBA will want to understand which hero ranks best in the game.

6Riktor, The Electrocutioner
Riktor is the perfect blend of Support and Tank class since he has one of the highest base HP and Shield inPredecessor. As a primary Support Hero, Riktor also has several CC (Crowd Control) abilities, perfect for clearing waves of minions and supporting damage dealers. VeteranLeague of Legendsplayers may notice that Riktor has similar movesets tothe iconic bear Tibbers.

Players should focus on leveling Riktor’s Riplash ability since it grabs the first enemy it hits and pulls them back to him (similar to Khepri’s grab ability fromSmite). This ability can be used to flank enemy players, but can also be used to incapacitate a DPS or Support hero during a team fight.
5Muriel, The Sentinel
Muriel is the best Support hero inPredecessor, since her abilities boost and replenish Shields. But as a full Support hero, she lacks proper damage abilities, meaning players will have to rely on their team to get minion kills to earn cash. In terms of survivability, Muriel is on the weak side, having one of the lowest base HPs in the game. Players should never venture alone on the map, since that will end in a disaster.
Muriel’s Secondary Ability (Consecrated Ground) is arguably her best Support skill since it deploys a protective bubble that replenishes an ally’s Shield. While it may not be as powerful asMakoa’s Barrier Reef fromPaladins: Champions of the Realm, it can still prevent an ally’s death. Additionally, Muriel’s Ultimate Ability (Reversal of Fortune) knocks enemies up, providing a window for allies to either attack or flee.

4Gideon, The Rift Walker
Gideon is the perfect midlane Mage hero for fans of Azir fromLeague of Legends, except thatGideon is a lot easier to master than Azir. Gideon thrives on slowing down enemies with his basic ability, while still being able to clear large groups of minions. His strength comes from his high mobility, especially with his Torn Space Ability, which lets him create portals to different areas of the map.
Gideon’s Ultimate Ability (Black Hole) creates a large vortex that slowly pulls and damages enemies for 3.5 seconds (at max level it deals 1,080 damage per second). This makes Gideon a top-tier pick since he can either trap enemies within the vortex, giving allies a chance to unleash their abilities or wipe out an entire enemy team.

3Dekker, The Archeologist
Dekker is another superb Support hero inPredecessorthat can lock down an entire enemy team with her abilities. But, similar to Muriel (or Glaceon inPokemon Unite), Dekker lacks proper damage abilities, limiting her damage output in a battle or while farming minions. Nonetheless, Dekker can be built as a pure damage dealer, but players will need to play cautiously due to her low HP and Shield stats.

In terms of Abilities, Dekker’s best Ability is Containment Field (Secondary Ability) since it creates a circular fence that prevents enemies from escaping for up to 3.5 seconds. Players who master this Ability can easily trap enemies, allowing the team’s DPS to eliminate them. Alternatively, Dekker players can use Containment Field to stop enemies from chasing them or other allies.
2Steel, The Defender of the Wasteland
Offlane heroes (or Junglers like Jinx fromLeague Of Legends Wild Rift) are crucial for anyPredecessormatch. They’ll be able to keep lanes protected while “ganking” (stealing jungle kills) from the enemy team. And Steel is among the best offlane hero inPredecessor, since his Abilities boosts his mobility and provide plenty of CC. The most notable aspect of Steel is his Passive (Battering Barrier), which replenishes his Shield every time he damages an enemy.
As for Abilities, players should focus on Steel’s Primary Ability (Bull Rush) and Ultimate Ability (Shield Slam). Bull Rush causes Steel to charge forward dealing damage and stunning every enemy hero hit. His Ultimate Ability causes massive AOE damage and also stuns enemies for 1.5 seconds. If players notice that they’re dying a lot, focus on upgrading Force Shield since it creates a barrier that prevents damage.

1Howitzer, The Mechanical Mage
Without any doubt, Howitzer is currently the best hero inPredecessor. Howitzer’s Abilities all deal damage, meaning players will have no issues farming for items. In addition to his damage Abilities, Howitzer also boasts high HP and Shield stats, making him a real menace in a 1v1 fight.
Players are free to upgrade any of Howitzer’s Abilities since they are all powerful, but the best ones would be Land Mine and Make it Rain. These two Abilities cause AOE damage, so players should wait until enemy players are close together to unleash them.
