Princess Peach: Showtime Already Has a Clear Sequel Opportunity

If the game warrants a sequel, then it will definitely be worth looking into.

The announcement thatPrincess Peach was getting a video gamewas a momentous one. Peach has been playable in mostMariospinoffs, as well as some of the more recent platformers. However, she hasn’t had her own adventure sinceSuper Princess Peachfor the Nintendo DS back in 2005. Unfortunately, afterSuper Princess Peach, the princess didn’t get another chance to shine on her own for well over a decade. She spent that time as either a figure in the plot, or an alternate playable character without her own story.Princess Peach: Showtime!is her second chance to show that she can carry a game.

Daisy Should Join the Fun in Princess Peach: Showtime!’s Sequel

Daisy is a Popular Side Character in the Mario Series

It got a lot of attention whenDaisy became playable inSuper Mario Bros. Wonder, and for good reason. While Daisy took Peach’s original role as the damsel in distress inSuper Mario Land, she was restricted toMariospinoffs ever since. At least Peach was always a principal part of theMariocast and had a presence in pretty much every game. Daisy almost immediately got pushed to the sidelines, similar to Waluigi.Super Mario Bros. Wonderwas her first time contributing to a properMarioadventure, and with any luck, it will be far from the last.

Peach and Daisy are Longtime Friends and Natural Teammates

Daisy would make a perfect Player 2 to Peach ifPrincess Peach: Showtime!gets a sequel. Throughout theMariogames where Daisy has appeared, she has traditionally been Peach’s main partner, or at least closely associated with her. The two of them have consistently been portrayed as best friends, and they even have personalities that compliment each other similar to the Mario Bros. Peach’s calm, refined personality contrasts well with Daisy’s energetic, enthusiastic nature. Just like how Luigi has followed Mario for years, Daisy would be an excellent second inPrincess Peach: Showtime!’s sequel.

Princess Peach: Showtime’s Gimmicks Could Grow With Multiple Players

It would be interesting to see howPrincess Peach: Showtime!’s gameplay could be adapted for multiple players. The whole gimmick ofPrincess Peach: Showtime!’s transformationsbrings several different aspects of gameplay. Combat and platforming-themed powers like Dashing Thief Peach and Swordfighter Peach would be easy, having two players traversing the level at once instead of one. More specialized outfits like Patissier Peach and Detective Peach may require more innovation. In some cases, entire puzzles could be altered to account for a second player’s presence. Taking that approach could also add more replay value, giving players reason to play both solo and co-op games.

Just like how Luigi has followed Mario for years, Daisy would be an excellent second inPrincess Peach: Showtime!’s sequel.

IfPrincess Peach: Showtime!gets a sequel, then there would be a lot to gain from Peach bringing Daisy along for the ride as well. Thetheatrical design ofPrincess Peach: Showtime!can lend an extravagant approach to the game, and bringing in a second player could be an excellent way to add to the festivities. Daisy is a natural companion for Peach, and she would be a perfect fit for Peach’s next adventure. One of the first things thatPrincess Peach: Showtime!’s sequel should consider adding is Daisy as the second player character.
