Summary

A dedicatedProject Zomboidplayer has impressed the game’s online community with a massive, sprawling castle they built in the game without any cheats, exploits or extra perks. The project spanned four in-game years and theProject Zomboidexpert is now using the build, named “Louisburg Castle”, as their main home base.

Givenhow brutal and challengingProject Zomboidcan be, creating such a massive structure out of the game’s limited resources all while dealing with the numerous zombies that are always around, was likely no simple task. Considering one in-game day lasts about an hour, the build is likely the result of hundreds of hours of gameplay and resource gathering to create something on such a scale.

PROJECT ZOMBOID

The creator, u/finnywinny12, posted their creation to the game’ssubreddit, sharing screenshots of the build and even a map of their in-game world with their castle shown in the top right corner. Compared to the in-game houses and other structures, the “Louisburg Castle,” which is named after thetown in whichProject Zomboidtakes place, seemingly takes up a significant amount of land and has its own village built within it.

An Impressive Feat for Such a Brutal Game

The user also shared their character’s stats, showing that they built the whole thing with a masonry stat of zero, meaning they crafted and constructed such a massive stone structure without the useful perks that come with that skill tree. Players were undoubtedly impressed with the build, with many lamenting thattheir own bases inProject Zomboidpale in comparison to “Louisburg Castle,” while others were simply impressed that they built the whole thing in a game with such limited resources.

According to the player, who responded to some comments on the original post, the build was done without disabling the option that lets zombies attack player-made structures, one ofthe game’s several customizable options. In other words, they had to face zombies attacking their structures and attempting to destroy them while they assembled the entire thing.

The map inProject Zomboidfeatures a variety of pre-built structures players can use to make bases out of, but they can also construct their original builds using in-game resources. Seemingly, “Louisburg Castle” was made with a mix of the two methods, with some parts being fenced-off pre-made structures and others being original creations by the player, though it is unclear how exactly they pulled it off.
