The Fall 2022 animeReincarnated as a Swordjust ended its first season last week with its 12th episode. However, just a one day after airing, the anime’s official website announced that it was already being renewed for another season. Along with the announcement, a new trailer along with a promotional image were both released to keep fans hyped for more on the way.
Reincarnated as a Swordis a fantasy anime about a human who is reincarnated as a nameless sword with magical powers. The sword is found by a girl named Fran from abeastkin groupcalled the Black Cat Tribe. She names the sword Shishou, and the two become a powerful duo as they go adventuring. Fran is determined to achieve something no one from her tribe ever has before, to evolve into a mighty beast along with Shishou’s help.

Reincarnated as a Swordis based on a light novel that was first published in 2016 (though originally was a web novel in 2015). The anime aired in Fall 2022 for 12 episodes from October to December. The story has been generally well-received, though some feel it istoo similar to other more popular animein the same genre, especiallyThat Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.
That didn’t stopReincarnated as a Swordfrom getting another season, though! The new promotional image features Fran holding Shishou close, along with the announcement of the new season at the bottom. No date is listed at this time. Acknowledging its similarities toThat Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime,Reincarnated as a Sword’s website also posted a new collaborative image between the twofantasy anime.
The trailer is short but action-packed, with thirty seconds offight scenesagainst new opponents and appearances by old characters. The end of the trailer has the same announcement as the poster of a second season, but no date yet. It will likely be posted on the anime’s social media or official website in the coming months. Since it has already been announced and media released for it, it is likely already far into production.
The light novel forReincarnated as a Swordis still ongoing. Additionally, a spin-off manga series calledReincarnated as a Sword:Another Wishalso began in 2020.
