UPDATE 11/13: Montreal Police have now confirmed that no threat was found at the Ubisoft Montreal offices. The Ubisoft Montreal building has been successfully evacuated.
At the time of this writing, it’s still unclear exactly what was happening at the Ubisoft Montreal offices. However, it appears as though the “hostage situation” was either a hoax or the result of misinformation. Some have speculated that Ubisoft Montreal could have been the victim ofswatting, wherein a fake threat is called into the police to send a SWAT team to a certain location. However, this has not been confirmed, and no one has claimed responsibility yet.
In any case, the situation appears to be under control and all Ubisoft Montreal employees are reportedly safe.

According to online reports,Ubisoft Montrealis currently experiencing a hostage situation. Reports indicate that some Ubisoft employees have been able to exit the building, but others are still inside. Specific details on what exactly is going on have not been revealed at the time of this writing, but we will update this article as soon as more information is available.
A tweet by Yara El Soueidi, a writer who works for Cult MTL, says her boss’s friend works atUbisoft. Luckily, her boss’s friend is apparently working from home, and was able to avoid being caught up in the situation. However, she has reportedly spoken to Ubisoft Montreal employees still at the building, who are “hiding under their desks.”
In a statement to IGN, Ubisoft confirmed that it is aware of the current situation and “working with local authorities.” In the meantime, Montreal police urge that people avoid Saint-Laurent and St-Viateur. No motive or any other explanation has been revealed to the public.
