The onlyResident Evilgame that has it beat isResident Evil 6, despite the fact thatRE6is generally considered to be the worst main series games by many fans.
Resident Evil 6sold 4.5 million units in the same timeframe, putting it just slightly ahead of theResident Evil 4remake. However, there’s a good chance that theResident Evil 4remake will pull ahead ofResident Evil 6in the long run. TheResident Evil 4remake has been warmly embracedby fans and is being hailed as one of the best game releases of the year, whereasResident Evil 6was not nearly as well-received.
Time will tell if theResident Evil 4remake is able to toppleResident Evil 6. However, Capcom may be able to draw more people to the remake if it continues to release updates for it that enhance the experience and add new content. Just recently, Capcom releasedThe Mercenaries update for theResident Evil 4remake, giving fans the chance to experience a new version of the fan favorite bonus game mode.
Then again, some updates may have the opposite effect and turn fans away from theResident Evil 4remake. For example, Capcom recently introducedcontroversial microtransactions to theResident Evil 4remake, which may not sit right with everyone. Regardless, theResident Evil 4remake is off to a hot start, and it will be interesting to see if it is able to keep its momentum going strong.
