It’s undeniable thatInvinciblewill be sticking around for the next few years, no matter how long hiatuses may be between seasons. Robert Kirkman admitted that there’s one character he can’t wait to introduce in theAmazon Prime Videoshow: Bulletproof.

AsAmazon Prime Video’sInvinciblecontinues, it will introduce new characters from the comic. Kirkman admitted that because he liked the origin of Bulletproof inthe originalInvinciblecomic, he can’t wait to integrate him into the show whenever that happens.

In an interview withSkybound, Kirkman explained why he’s excited to introduce Bulletproof into the show. “I think the most fun and exciting bit was probably the Bulletproof origin. I can’t wait until we get to it in the show. It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Kirkman said. Kirkman then delved into Bulletproof’s very origin. “His twin brother was a mad scientist that gave him power, and the incident that gave him superpowers killed his twin brother, but because his twin brother was a scientist, he had to live both lives because the guy was dead.”

In theInvinciblecomic, Bulletproof has some of the same powers as its titular character. So much so that at one point, Bulletproof briefly took the supe moniker of Invincible while filling in for Mark Grayson. Unlike Grayson, however, his powers did not come from being partially Viltrumite. He also had other powers besides super strength, speed, and the ability to fly. He could absorb kinetic energy and had a healing factor that allowed him to recover much quicker than the average human. Bulletproof also had a checkered past, which Kirman explains, but that may give too much away regarding where they go with him if and when he gets introduced in theInvincibleshow.

Though Kirkman is looking forward to introducing Bulletproof inInvinciblein the near future, there’s no telling if that’s how they’ll portray him the way they did in the comic. WhileInvinciblereceived unanimous praise when it first came out, it didn’t follow every beat of the comic, which many saw as an improvement. While the show followed a fair amount of the comic’s original story, increasing Debbie’s role while also making Mark’s friend openly gay from the start, which wasn’t how it went in the comics, played a hand in how season 1’s story progressed as organically as it did.

Taking liberties when portraying superheroes from comic books in movies can pay massive dividends. Marvel Studios stuck the landing with the Infinity sagaby changing Thanos' character. In the comics, he was a ruthless space tyrant. While he was pretty much that inAvengers: Infinity WarandAvengers: Endgame, he wasn’t motivated by being a bloodthirsty dictator but by being someone who believed their actions were right, as hard as it is. Bulletproof may have the same story in theInvincibleadaptation as he did in the comics, but doing so would mean those behind the show thought it was for the best more than anything.
