Sometimes, certain bosses are designed to be terrifying to behold, with their horrifying screams and unnerving visages sending shivers down the player’s spine. The visual and audio design of these bosses ends up being quite unsettling, adding to the overall sense of dread and tension that permeates throughout the game. Battling these abominations is both a test of skill and nerves, and players need to get over how scary these bosses are if they wish to prevail through these encounters unscathed.

10Leechmonger – Demon’s Souls

The Leechmonger is a disgusting creature and the first boss that players encounter in the Valley of Defilement. This disgusting boss looks more intimidating than he is, with the boss being so weak to fire that he ends up being pretty simple to defeat.

That being said, it’s hard to not squirm at the icky nature of this boss fight, hitting a primal fear in many players. It’s a shame that the creepy nature of this boss fight is completely undermined by how tough he is, rendering the entire encounter pretty forgettable in the grand scheme of things.

9Pinwheel – Dark Souls

When the topic of the weakest bosses comes into the picture, most people won’t fail to make fun of Pinwheel and this highly disappointing encounter. He’s nothing more than a flailing pincushion, with the fight lasting longer than his introductory cutscene.

That being said, Pinwheel’s introduction makes him look pretty scary, with his multiple heads moving around in an eerie fashion. It’s just a shame that the encounter doesn’t live up to the short hype this encounter generates.

8The One Reborn – Bloodborne

The One Reborn isone of the easier bosses inBloodborne, which is surprising given how disgusting it looks. The boss' body is an unholy mashup of undead bodies that is pretty terrifying to behold.

However, players will face more problems with the Chime Maidens that pepper the player with ranged magic attacks. Once they’re done away with, players will easily destroy this boss without too many problems.

7Gaping Dragon – Dark Souls

The Gaping Dragon is a massive and terrifying beast that resides in the depths of Blighttown. Its gaping maw and enormous size make for an intimidating foe, and most players would feel that this boss is going to be anything but simple.

However, while the boss is large and intimidating, its relatively slow movements can allow players to get many damage windows with ease. Barring one attack that severely depletes the Chosen Undead’s health bar, players will find the creepy-looking Gaping Dragon to be a pushover.

6Gravelord Nito – Dark Souls

Gravelord Nito is one of the four holders of the Lord Souls who looks like the living manifestation of death. This mass of bodies is pretty intimidating and summons skeletons during the boss fight to impede the Chosen Undead.

He looks horrifying, and his boss fight can be pretty challenging…even if players are pretty seasoned and know how to take this boss out by this point. Gravelord Nitomay not be the most memorable boss inDark Souls, but there’s no denying just how creepy he looks.

5Amygdala – Bloodborne

After either defeating Rom or gaining a ton of Insight, players will notice a bunch of nightmarish creatures called Lesser Amygdalas towering over them in the many areas they’ve traversed over and over again. If this wasn’t scary enough, one of these grotesque creatures can be encountered in the Nightmare Frontieras a boss.

This Amygdala is hard to hit, with only its head really being vulnerable enough. Players should use long-range weapons to stun this beast and be wary of the second phase where it rips off two of its arms to use as weapons.

4Oceiros, The Consumed King – Dark Souls 3

Oceiros is a tragic figure inDark Souls 3,consumed by madness and obsessed with dragons. He was the former king of Lothric who lost himself in his quest to gain more power.

His fight takes place in an eerie environment, and players will be baited into thinking that this boss is pretty easy after walloping him without much resistance in the first phase. However, this changes with the advent of the second phase, where Oceiros becomes way more aggressive…and scarier, to boot.

This transformation has left him torn between his former self and his new animalistic nature, resulting in a boss battle that is both terrifying and poignant. Watching him regain his consciousness and become a human in the second phase of the battle lets him embrace his humanity one last time in one of the greatest moments FromSoftware has ever concocted.

2Darkeater Midir – Dark Souls 3

Darkeater Midir is a dragon with the curse of immortality, who was given the unenviable task of fighting the Abyss at all times. Suffice it to say, the dragon slowly got corrupted over time and lost all sense of reason, as one would expect.

Its immense size and devastating attacks make it one of the toughest bosses in the game. The fight is a test of endurance and patience, with Midir’s high health and damage making him seem downright unbeatable at times.

Its wails and shrieks are haunting, and its relentless attacks make for a grueling and intense fight.

The Orphan of Kos is considered to bethe hardest boss inBloodborneby many, and it takes relentless tries and a ton of skill to finally get through this encounter by the skin of their teeth. Players may feel hopeless in the face of this adversity, but managing to take out the Orphan of Kos after dying over and over again makes for one of the most satisfying rushes anyone can experience in the game.
