The roster of victims and/or murderers continues to grow as the cast forScream 6adds four new members. Deadline reports that Jack Champion (Avatar: The Way of Water), Liana Liberato (Light as a Feather), Devyn Nekoda (Ginny & Georgia), and Josh Segarra (Arrow) will all be appearing in the latest installment of the horror franchise.
The new additions will be joining returning cast members Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, and Jenna Ortega (who is becoming something ofa modern scream queen after appearances inXandStudio 666). Courteney Cox has also confirmed that she will be reprising her role as Gale Weathers for the latest entry. So far, little is known about the plot ofScream 6except for the fact that it will take place outside of the classic setting of Woodsboro. It wouldn’t be the first time the series has done so, withScream 2andScream 3taking place at an Ohio college and Hollywood, respectively.Bloody Disgustinghas reported that the sequel will take place in New York City, with set photos (taken byTwitter user @oocgng) from Montreal seeming to confirm this.
Along with the new and returning cast members,Hayden Panettiere will also be making her return to the seriesas fan-favorite character Kirby. This came as a surprise as it appeared that Kirby had been killed inScream 4, but a small easter egg in the recently releasedScreamseemed to confirm that she had survived her attack.Dermot Mulroney was also announced as joining the cast, though little is known about his role besides the fact thathe will be playing a police officer, seeming to fill the role that the slain Dewey (David Arquette) left behind.
What will truly setScream 6apart from the rest of the series, though, is that Neve Campbell, who has played beloved final girl Sidney Prescott in every single entry, will not be reprising her role in this new film.Campbell stated publiclythat she felt the offer she received for her return “did not equate to the value [she has] brought to the franchise.” Even though she will not be returning to what may be her most famous role, Neve Campbell can still be seen in Netflix’sThe Lincoln Lawyer, which was recently renewed for a second season,as well as the upcomingTwisted Metalseries at Peacock, where she will star alongside Anthony Mackie and Thomas Haden Church.
