Flying Wild Hog’s latest addition to itsShadow Warriorseries,Shadow Warrior 3,is already shaping up to be an appropriately violent follow-up, bringing back the franchise’s standard blend of tongue-in-cheek humor, blood-drenched violence, and over-the-top gore. Today, it was revealed that the upcoming sequel will be joining both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One alongside its already announced PC release, welcoming even more players to get stuck into the action.
The reveal was made via an action-packed gameplay trailer shown off by IGN, with the publication providing a short glimpse intoShadow Warrior 3’sDoomsday Device mission. The title card that followed the footage made the added console ports official, reaffirming that the game will be launching later this year at an as of yet unspecified date.

As for the gameplay, it confirms thatShadow Warrior 3won’t be toning down the gruesome killsand spectacle-heavy battles that cropped up in its 2016 predecessor,offering 2 minutes of adrenaline-fueled action. From duel-wielding assault rifles and chopping enemies to pieces with a katana to gruesomely punching an ice demon’s heads apart and using its innards to freeze nearby enemies, Lo Wang’s arsenal of abilities inShadow Warrior 3seem to be taking the combat up a notch. One section of the trailer even shows the nimble protagonist use a grappling hook to pull two miniguns out of the stomach of a large enemy, using them to mow down nearby opponents.
The shooter appears to channel the chaotic combat of games likeDoomand will no doubt be one to watch for lovers of violent action romps. For those who missed its announcement last year,Shadow Warrior 3brings back series protagonist Lo Wang in a new adventure. This time around, the character is teaming with his former enemy turned sidekick Orochi Zilla, as the pair battle an ancient dragon they unwittingly released from eternal confinement. It’s likely to be another zany adventure filled with irreverent comedy, cheesy one-liners, and plenty of B-movie action.
Shadow Warrior 3is just one of the many releasesDevolver Digitalcurrently has slated for this year, with the publisher also promisingBoomerang X, Essays on Empathy, Sub Rosa, Weird West,andDeath’s Door.It already looks to be a stacked year for the company, offering a variety of different games across a range of genres. It’s not a surprise after Devolver made waves in 2020, collaborating with Mediatonic on the global phenomenon that wasFall Guysand assisting Phobia Game Studio in the creation of its popular horror experience,Carrion.
