Way back in the mid-2000s, Zachary Levi became a more widely known actor thanks to his role in the NBC seriesChuck. In 2019, he was thrust into film superstardom thanks to his role in the DC superhero filmShazam!A sequel to the film,Shazam! Fury Of The Godsis currently set to be released later this year, having beenbumped up from its original 2023release date. Before all of this happened, the actor had an incredibly bad accident involving the Nintendo Wii.

TheNintendo Wiiwas originally released in 2006 and became one of the best-selling video game systems of all time. The company went on to move over 101 million units during its generation cycle, making it the company’s best-selling, non-handheld console at the time. Part of the Wii’s appeal was the use of motion control technology. This gave gamers an extra level of immersion and, in the case of games likeWii Sports, allowed them to further feel like they were playing the sports games in their own homes. Unfortunately, because of the motion controls sometimes very serious accidents would occur, as they did with Zachary Levi.

In a recent interview with IMDB, Levi revealed how an accident involving the Wii sent him to the hospital. In the past, the actor has expressed his love of video games andLevi was once a host of the Video Game Awards. The system had just come out and Levi was up half the night playingWii Tennis. Unfortunately, during one of the games, he moved his hand too high and too hard and shattered a light fixture, and ended up in the emergency room. He ended up needing 14 stitches because of the accident.

Shazam! Fury of the Godsis a film that has had something of rocky development. Like many other films, the upcoming Zachary Levi movie had to push back its production due to concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic. The release date was shifted around several times, before the sequel was delayed one last time to avoidreleasing on the same day asAvatar: The Way Of Water.

The Wii was formally discontinued in October 2013. Its successor system, the Wii U, had been released the previous year but failed to achieve the same runaway success as its predecessor. Production for the Wii U ended in 2017 as the company paved the road for its latest system, the Nintendo Switch. TheNintendo Switch has gone on to beat the Wiiin hardware sales. Hopefully theShazam!star can avoid any mishaps with Nintendo’s latest best-selling system.
