So far, there have been scattered reports about Xbox One consoles facing the issue, so it is possible that only a few are affected.
Xbox One Bug Prevents Some Users From Accessing Xbox Live
Some users who are trying to update from an old firmware version seem to be impacted. Apart from the inability to access the latest console features and improvements, it also cripples the console’s ability to connect to Xbox Live. This essentially means players will not be able to play games that require online access or evendigital Xbox One gamesif their console is not set as primary.
Users have tried factory resetting the console as well, and that apparently makes things worse. This is because players will need to connect to the internet to set up their consoles for the first time. When connecting to the internet, the console will attempt to update its software, and that brings players back to square one. This is of particular importance owing to the fact that users often buy old consoles through third-party resellers, which are almost always factory reset. So some of those consoles are rendered unusable for the time being.
