Stardew Valley’s charm lies in its intricate details, especially the dynamic shift of seasons and the spawn of season-specific forageables. As Fall approaches, it’s time for farmers to harvest their crops before the frosty Winter sets in. Among the bountiful harvests of Fall are theCommon Mushrooms, which flourish during this season.
Common Mushrooms are characterized by their brownish appearance inStardew Valley. They have a unique texture and a slightly nutty flavor. These versatile fungi can be consumed to provide a subtle boost to the player’s energy and health or be used in a variety of cooking and crafting recipes.

Another way to get Common Mushrooms is by growing them on the farm. Common Mushrooms are grown from Fall Wild Seeds. Unfortunately, they are not sold at Pierre’s General Store or JojaMart. However, they can occasionally befound at the Traveling Cart, with prices ranging from135 and 1,000 gold.
The easier way to obtain these seeds, though, is to craft them.10 Fall Seedscan be crafted using the Crafting recipe“Wild Seeds (Fa),”which isobtained when players reachForaging Level 6.The ingredients required are:
Fall Seeds take7 daysto grow. Mature plants have an equal chance of producing any of the following crops:Common Mushroom, Blackberry, Hazelnut, or Wild Plum.
Tapping Mushroom Trees
Whentapped with a Tapper, Mushroom Trees produce Common Mushrooms, Red Mushrooms, and Purple Mushrooms in all seasons except Winter. The type of mushroom for the first harvest depends on the season. Common Mushrooms can be harvested during Spring or Summer, while Red Mushrooms appear in Fall.
It takes two nights in Spring or Summer or one night in Fall for Mushroom Trees to yield Mushrooms.
Using a Heavy Tapper does not make the process of tapping Mushrooms faster.
The Farm Cave
The Farm Cave can be access once players haveearned 25,000 gold. When they reach this milestone, Demetrius, the local scientist, approaches the players and presents them with a choice: they can use the cave to cultivate mushrooms or have fruit bats inhabit it instead. Opting for the mushroom option results in the addition of six boxes in the Cave, where various types of mushrooms grow daily.
This is a good option for players who wish to grow the Common Mushrooms. There is a69.8% chance per dayof them spawning in the Cave.
