Starfieldis loaded with an enormous variety of weaponsplayers can stumble upon while exploring the game’s numerous planets. Any random cave or derelict ship can be home to a legendary weapon that permanently changes the player’s combat tactics, at least until they find an even better weapon elsewhere. Another great place to find weapons is in the cold, dead hands of an important, quest-giving NPC.

That’s exactly what a player who goes by the name of SoggyTowelette in theStarfieldsubreddit did. SoggyTowelette posted a picture of a handgun they looted off the corpse of an NPC character named Commander Ikande of the United Colonies, who blackmails the player into infiltrating a loose collective ofbrutal space pirates called the Crimson Fleet. The player can attempt to kill Ikande at any time, or they can wait till the end of the ensuing quest line to turn on him. The player can do this to side with the Crimson Fleet, or just because Ikande’s gun, appropriately named the Unfair Advantage, is pretty good. But the version of it that SoggyTowelette picked up after killing Ikande is maybe a little too good for a handgun.

For reasons that the player can’t explain, their version of the Unfair Advantage is extremely unfair to every enemy who dares stand between the player and their mission. The gun’s base damage is usually set at 51, yet the version SoggyTowelette found does 301 damage after factoring in the damage done by its mods. On top of that, its perks add some additional damage, too. It inflicts radiation damage, demoralizes the target, and has Skip Shot, a perk that ensures that every fourth bullet fired is actually two bullets at once. All that piled on top of each other means that the player got extremely lucky with the random draw of weapon mods and perks, which pushed the Epic-level pistol well into the territory ofhigher-tier LegendaryStarfieldweapons.

Starfieldis a massive game with tons of story and loot hiding in every corner. Players have already reported having found loot in some veryunexpected places inStarfield. But sometimes all the player has to do to find a good gun is search the holster of the nearest quest-giving NPC.

Starfieldis currently available on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
