Updated on July 18, 2025, by Megan Smith:When approaching the third and final act of Baldur’s Gate 3, the fights the player is likely to face become incredibly dangerous and require the player to think tactfully if they hope to survive. Thankfully, by this point, the player should’ve found plenty of overpowered weapons in BG3 that, when equipped by the right class, are sure to deal an abundance of damage to both regular foes and the horrid bosses of Act 3. While mods have allowed these BG3 weapons to be equipped at the very start of the game using various cheat rings, some players may still be intrigued to know how to get these overpowered weapons the right way and which ones are by far the best to grab during a playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3.

Additional Features

Shar’s Darkness - Players can cast Shar’s Darkness once every turn. Shar’s Blessing - Players gain advantage while obscured and can also deal 1d6 more damage to enemies that are obscured. Blind Immunity - The wielder cannot be blinded.

Although Shar’s Spear of Evening is given to Shadowheart, players that want to see the overpowering potential of thisBG3weapon should be sure to pry it away from the hands of their Cleric and instead give it to a rogue like Astarion to use the spear to its full attention.

Phalar Aluve in Baldur’s Gate 3

Many of the additional features of this legendary spear from Act 2 benefit a rogue greatly due to them allowing the player to cast Shar’s Darkness every turn, which is essentially theDarknessspell, since the spear also stops the player from being blinded, a rogue can use this cloud of Darkness to exploit their stealth attacks on enemies while also dealing additional damage to those foes found within the dark.

Players ofBaldur’s Gate 3who have enjoyed the previous RPG titles in the franchise may already be familiar withBelm, as it is a classic sword that has continued to stay in the hands of its wielder, Jaheira. While players may not get this incredibly overpoweredBaldur’s Gate 3weapon until Act 3, the weapon is certainly worthwhile for any player who enjoys being able to hit multiple times during a turn.

Putting Belm on a Fighter will allow the player to hit for a minimum of four times, including action surge, due to the player being able to hit normally three times and then an extra hit using Perfectly Balanced Strike. This will give some enemies no chance of having a turn.

Phalar Aluveis an incredibly broken weapon that players can earn early into their playthrough ofBaldur’s Gate 3. Not only is its base damage incredibly similar to the legendary weapon known as the Balduran’s Giantslayer, but the overpowered nature of it is seen through the potential the sword has to buff all of its surrounding allies.

Whenusing the action of Sing, the player and their allies gain a bonus to their attack rolls. This allows players to quickly deal with the enemies that surround them. This buff is so powerful that many players continue to use the Phalar Aluve even into the endgame.

Tippler’s Rage - While drunk, the player has an advantage on attack rolls. They can also hit a foe and those surrounding it by 3 meters with 1d4 of Thunder damage.

Players may be surprised to see that thePunch-Drunk Bastardgreatclub is one of themost overpowered melee weaponsin the game, especially for players that have collected a lot of booze.

The Dancing Breeze Glaive in Baldur’s Gate 3

Players that wield this weapon while drunk have not only an advantage in their hits but also the potential to injure the surrounding foes, as when they hit a foe they also blast those around them with a thunder attack. Besides this, the club also has Tenacity, which allows players to attempt to hit a foe again if they miss the first time, meaning a foe is always likely to get hit.

Giant Form - The player grows in size dealing 1d6 extra damage, 27 temporary hit points, and advantage on Strength checks and saving throws. Giantslayer - When hitting a foe, the wilder doubles their damage from their Strength modifier. The weapon also has advantage on attack rolls for foes that are considered Large, Huge, or Gargantuan. Topple The Big Folk - Deal additional damage equal to the player’s proficiency bonus. If they hit a Large, Huge, or Gargantuan enemy, they take an additional 2d6 slashing damage and must succeed a Strength saving throw or be prone.

As is expected, many of the legendary weapons withinBaldur’s Gate 3are some of the most overpowered weapons available, with many of them being found in the final act of the RPG to give the player a better chance at fighting the variety of final bosses in the game.

Balduran’s Giantslayeris arguably one of the best weapons in the game, as well as being one of the most OP weapons too, with this greatsword being perfect for fighting larger enemies. Players are sure to see this blade shine during the final act. Increasing the damage the player deals makes it perfect for any Fighter or Barbarian looking to demolish.

While the majority of overpowered weapons inBG3are an assortment of melee weapons, there are a few brilliant bows that Rangers or other ranged classes are likely to fall in love with, especially as some of them, like theGontr Maelfrom Act 3, are incredibly lethal.

Besides the decent amount of damage this bow does, players that wield the Gontr Mael are able to cast the spellHastewhenever they wish to not only attack more during a turn but run further too. This isn’t the only spell available on the bow, as hitting an enemy with an arrow also has a chance of attacking them withGuiding Boltfor extra radiant damage.

Zephyr Connection - The trident returns to the player’s hand when thrown, and they can’t be forced to drop it. Throwing the trident also causes 1d12 of Thunder damage. Veil of the Wind - Players gain a bonus for their movement speed and jump distance. They are also immune to fall damage. It also glows.

Steal the ring from the genie in the Circus of the Last Days in Act 3. When teleported to the jungle, the player can find the chest just before the portal to teleport back out.

The legendary weapons inBaldur’s Gate 3are not only some of the best weapons in the game, but also some of the most broken too. In Act 3, after revealing a genie’s cheating ways, a player has the chance to find the legendary trident,Nyrulna, sitting in a locked chest. When thrown, this trident will return to the player’s hand, but that isn’t what makes it so broken.

Throwing this trident at a foe will not only do its usual damage but also hit an area surrounding where it landed for an additional amount of Thunder damage. This therefore allows players to have an infinite explosive on hand at all times.

Exploit Weakness - Foes hit with this weapon receive a vulnerability to piercing damage (Main Hand Ony) True Strike Riposte - When a foe misses the player with a melee attack, the player can retaliate and gain True Strike. (Off-Hand Only) Armor Class + 1

Bloodthirstis one of the most overpowered daggers in the entirety ofBG3. This weapon is great for players who have planned to duel-wield, as the dagger has different effects depending on whether it is held in the player’s main or offhand.

Players will likely want to use the Bloodthirst in their offhand, as this allows the lethal knife to castTrue Strikeon an enemy that is hit with it. Therefore, players can start with ahit from this daggerto then make sure their more powerful main hand weapon strikes true.

Whirlwind Attack - The player whirls their body around, striking all nearby foes for 1d10 + 2 damage.

The Dancing Breeze has the potential to be incredibly broken when wielded by the right hand. This glaive has the potential to hit multiple foes at once with a spinning action known as Whirlwind Attack. Pairing up this attack with a class such as Assassin that increases the player’s critical hit chance means the Dancing Breeze has the potential to instantly kill multiple enemies at once as long as the unit crits.

The range of this weapon is also quite large, meaning the player is capable of affecting a large group as well as it also being capable of being used in sneak attacks for added damage.

Lathander’s Blessing - When the player’s hit points are reduced to 0, they regain 1d12 of health and allies nearby regain 1d6 too (Once Per Long Rest) Lathander’s Light - Sheds holy light in a 6-meter radius that blinds undead and fiends unless they succeed in a constitution saving throw. Can also cast Sunbeam.

The Blood of Lathanderisanother early-game weaponthat has the potential to stick with the player for the entirety of their playthrough. After uncovering the Blood of Lathander in Act 1, players will have access to the spell ofSunbeamearly into their adventure.

This ray of light is incredibly deadly and can easily defeat multiple foes in a line. Not to forget to mention, it also has the potential to blind undead foes making it harder for them to hit the unit that decides to wield this legendary mace.
