Upon the release of Patch 10.1.5, someWorld of Warcraftplayers noticed quite a change with the Glyph of Shadow, which alters the appearance of the Shadow Priest’s Shadowform. The change was originally thought to be a bug, but theWorld of Warcraftdevelopment team confirmed that it was an intentional change, which was quickly praised by Shadow Priests.Unlike the Holy and Discipline specializations, which focus on healing, the Shadow specialization for Prieststurns them into a spell caster that uses Void magic to deal damage over time and keep themselves and other party members in the fight. With damaging spells such as Devouring Plague, Shadow Word: Death, and Void Tendrils to overwhelm their foes, and defensive cooldowns such as Vampiric Touch and Disperse to keep themselves alive, the Shadow Priest is considered one of the most fun DPS specializations to play inWorld of Warcraft. One change just made the specialization more fun to play in the eyes of some players.RELATED:World of Warcraft Reveals the Name of the New World TreeAccording to Wowhead, the Glyph of Shadow’s buff, which decreases the intensity of Shadowform’s graphical effect, has been decreased even further than before. The Shadowform is an essential part of the Shadow Priest’s kit, as it increases their damage and is required to use some spells. Without any glyphs, Shadowform envelops the Priest in a dark, purple aura that obscures their outfit most of the time. By using the Glyph of Shadow, Shadowform’s appearance becomes very faint by comparison, which allowsWorld of Warcraftplayers toshow off their transmogrified armor and weaponswithout turning off the buff. While some players thought it was a bug that arrived with the Fractures in Time content update, Blizzard community manager Kaivax responded by stating it was an intentional change that was left undocumented in the patch notes.

Response to this intentional change has been mostly positive on social media. While some players are still getting used to the change, the community consensus seems to favor the change overall. While the Glyph of Shadow’s effect is purely cosmetic, this has caused its fetching price on the auction house to skyrocket. However,World of Warcraftplayers that tookInscription as one of their professionswill be able to craft it via Classic Inscription starting at skill level 200.

In addition to the cosmetic change, Shadow Priests and other hybrid specializations received changes to theirutility and their mana pools in Patch 10.1.5. It remains to be seen how manyWorld of Warcraftplayers will take advantage of it.
