Update: It appears that the download issues have been resolved, and gamers are slowly beginning to be able to download Sifu’s Early Access.

Sifu, the long-awaited rogue-lite kung fu fighting game, is now available for preload via the Epic Games Store and the PlayStation Store, but pre-order owners can also play the game early, ahead of its February 8th release date. PS Store users are, however, experiencing issues in getting the game to download in the first place.

Many players who pre-purchasedSifuvia the PlayStation Store find themselves unable to download game files ahead of its launch. The issue is particularly egregious for Deluxe Edition owners, who may have purchased it to play the game 48 hours early in the first place.

From what information is currently available about the problem, it would seem that only PlayStation users find themselves unable to download the game. Another issue lies with the fact thatSifuwas originally supposed to release two weeks later, on February 22nd, with the ongoing problems hurting whatever positive buzz the game’s early release date may have afforded.

The silver lining to the ongoing PS Store problems is thatSifuis only 7.6 GBs' worth of downloadon PlayStation consoles. When PS preloading is finally made available, odds are that everyone will get to enjoy the game in really short order. Of course, on the flip side, there’s still the issue of Deluxe Edition owners not getting the promised 48 hours' worth of early access in the first place.

Developers have already acknowledged the issue via Twitter, saying that they are aware of preloading issues on the PlayStation Store. According to the official response, and judging by the fact that the problems are limited to PlayStation Store, the issue may well lie with Sony, rather than the developers. Still, it’s a major issue for players that may have been excited to seehowSifu’s combat system differs from the restof its competitors.

Indeed, PC players don’t seem to be reporting similar issues. An Epic Games Store exclusive,Sifu’s PC preload and early access period seems to be comparatively flawless, with Deluxe Edition owners already enjoying the game’s early access period.Sifuwill be getting a physical releasesometime in 2022, too, which should be able to side-step the problems the game is currently experiencing.

Sifuofficially comes out on February 8th for PC, PS4, and PS5 platforms.
