The original rail-shooter caught the attention of Xbox gamers who missed out on the game’s release in 2016, andAaero’soverall success and critical acclaim encouraged developer Mad Fellows to develop a sequel,Aaero2. After nearly five years of development, Mad Fellows was ready to finally share the sequel’s release date while revealing that it would be a timed console exclusive game for the Xbox Series X|S. Like the first game, players will control a spacecraft and fire ribbons of light toward strange enemies and bosses in distant alien worlds.
Mad Fellows confirms thatAaero2will be released sometime in September 2024 forXbox Series X|S consoles. The new shooter will feature two-player co-op and PvP games modes, which both support local/couch and online play. The developers partnered with record label Monstercat to provide the licensed soundtrack forAaero2, which Mad Fellows describes as “incredible.” Moreover, the gameplay and environments were developed with each music track in mind, ensuring that each level provides a unique experience.Aaero2’scombat system was designed from the ground up, instead of being a direct iteration of the originalAaerocombat system.

While discussingAaero2, creative director Paul Norris stated that the team avoided announcing a release date until now, since they’ve decided to “take as long as it takes” to fully develop the shooter. Norris is very proud of the development team’s work and can’t wait to see what Xbox gamers will think about the title. Mad Fellows also confirms thatAaero2will be heading to PC via Steam after the Xbox launch, and other platforms will be announced at a later date.Aaero2is expected to join many ofthe best co-op games available on Steambefore the end of December at the very latest.
Gamers interested in supportingAaero2may back the game’s Indiegogo campaign to receive a copy and various bonuses, similarly tothe Kickstarter campaign forRatatan. An Xbox Backer Pack is available for £12 ($15) featuring the Xbox Series X|S game, Discord backer access and title, a mention in the game’s credits, and exclusive background art for desktops. However, the Xbox Backer Pack is only limited to 30 copies, so fans will need to secure a copy fast before it sells out.
