This weekend, popular Twitch streamer andOverwatchpro xQcwas banned for featuring nudity in one of his broadcasts. At the time, most viewers knew the ban was coming and even xQc acknowledged the punishment, but now some fans have come out to criticize Twitch for its decision.

For those that might have seen, xQc was playing a game on Twitch that boils down to “strip Connect Four.” Every time the human player wins, a computer-generated female opponent has to remove an article of clothing. Eventually, xQc won the game and was presented with the option of his opponent removing her bra.

Likely against better judgement, xQc chose to progress and, as expected, the female character was then shown with her breasts exposed. xQc was quick to react and close the game but the damage was still seemingly done. Clips made their way around social media and forums, and before longxQc was banned off Twitch.

It’s unclear how long xQc’s ban will last but most figure that it will be at least a 24-hour punishment. The last timexQc was banned for 3 daysfor unknowingly streaming pornographic material online. However, some feel as though xQc shouldn’t have been banned at all, especially in light of the recent controversies surrounding Twitch’s rule enforcement.

One of the biggest criticisms pointed at Twitch is the fact that plenty of video games feature nudity and are within the streaming service’s approved list. The Witcher 3, for example, has a few scenes featuring similar female nudity and yet no one who has played the game has been banned. In fact, xQc playedThe Witcher 3on stream not too long ago and had a similar reaction when a female character appeared without clothing.

On top of that, there have been continuous criticisms about Twitch allowing body painters on the platform but will deal out bans for unexpected nudity in games orwardrobe malfunctions. Twitch has even banned some of those body painters without rhyme or reason, so they are not above facing the inconsistent punishments either.

Ultimately, xQc will likely be unbanned sometime next week (if not Monday) and most of his viewers will laugh about the incident. While he’s gone there will be some who use the event to criticize Twitch’s enforcement of its own rules and most of those criticisms are valid. For xQc, who is arguablyone of the biggest Twitch streamers, on the platform, this will only serve to boost his popularity, but for plenty of others, the rules can be severely frustrating.
