AThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildplayer named Peco has posted a video on Twitter that displays an impressive degree of combat mastery that many people probably didn’t even realize was possible in the game.
In a video that lasts almost two full minutes, the skilled player beats down a Golden Lynel without taking a single hit. What’s most impressive is the agility with which Pecoswitches between weapons, quickly selecting the one that will be most effective for that brief instant of the fight. The Golden Lynel is kept stunned for a large portion of the exchange and, even when actively attacking, its attempts to harm Link are dodged as easily as if this were a brawl with a simple Bokoblin.

Lynels are notoriouslydifficult enemies inBreath of the Wilddue to their ability to body slam, trample, and use a variety of ranged attacks such as fireballs or shock arrows. Despite their aggression, there are a number of ways to use the Lynel’s attacks to Link’s advantage. If the player manages to perform a Perfect Dodge or Perfect Guard, for example, theLynelwill be temporarily open to counterattacks. And players with quick reaction times can use the gust of wind created by the Lynel’s fire attacks to fly up into the air with the paraglider and shoot an arrow at its head. This will not only inflict double damage but stun the creature as well, allowing it to be mounted and bombarded with melee attacks.
Golden Lynels can be found in Master Mode, which is included inBreath of the Wild’sThe Master Trials DLCreleased in June 2017. Enemies in this mode can detect Link’s presence more easily, are powered up by one level, regenerate health during combat, and can soak up much more damage than their counterparts in Normal Mode. These details make Peco’s battle with the Golden Lynel all the more spectacular.
This isn’t Peco’s first impressive takedown of a Golden Lynel, however. Their YouTube channel shares a few more encounters with the intimidating creature, including one in which the Golden Lynel is stunlocked and killed usingBreath of the Wild’sStasis rune, but not before Link stops to pose for a nice picture.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildwas released in March 2017 on Switch and Wii U.
