Summary
An inventiveZelda: Tears of the KingdomPlayer attempted to get past the fog in the Lost Woods using a rocket-powered cart. The fog in the Lost Woods has the magical property of resetting Link’s position if he tries to move through it, making this area of the map one of thehardest locations to reach inTears of the Kingdom.
The Lost Woods is as much of a classic area in Hyrule as Death Mountain or Zora’s Domain. The Lost Woods gained popularity inThe Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Timedue to its creepy feel and infectious theme song that’s impossible to forget. Since then, The Lost Woods have been included in many games in the series, most notably inThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of theWild. In that game, to reach the Master Sword, Link must use the flames of a lit torch to guide him through the maze of trees. InThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, players expecting to use the same tactic were met with a surprise.

InTears of the Kingdom, a lit torch does nothing. Instead, players must figure out how to get past the fog without any clear direction to do so. One Reddit User decided to try and cheat the puzzle by building a rocket-powered cart to shoot straight through the fog. In the clip, Link sets up his rocket cart made out ofZonai devices, positions himself in the center, then activates it. At first, the attempt appears to work as the rockets propel him straight through the fog. However, this doesn’t last long, as once the rockets disappear, Link and the cart hit the ground, and the fog instantly consumes them.
The rocket cart was a good idea, but there doesn’t appear to be a way to get past the fog through cheating. The closest thing players can do that’s similar is to dive down from the sky and aim for one of the three shrines in the center of the Lost Woods. Players with an enchantedGlide Armor set inTears of the Kingdomcan land near one of the shrines without taking fall damage, then quickly activate it. This only opens the shrine, however. The second the activation cut scene is over, the fog will consume Link.
It would appear that the only way to breachThe Lost Woods’ fog inTears of the Kingdomis to solve the puzzle. But the game has only been out for a few months, and with enough time, it’s possible that a creative player will figure out a faster way to get through the fog.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis available on Nintendo Switch.
